To make matters worse, when the swim instructor doesn’t show up for the paid swim class, the regular lifeguard is forced to give the lesson (so the lesson fee is not forfeited) but the members are closed out in that case as well.
The second main concern is that there can not be an ideal “spa” experience without an old fashioned hot, pins and needles shower. The shower heads have been changed at least 3 times in the last 3 years, each time reducing the flow to a laughable trickle. Interestingly and obviously, the people who specify these low flow shower heads NEVER shower at this club. It’s noteworthy, that government regulations require that manufactures sell their shower heads with flow restrictors installed, but there’s no requirement for homeowners, hotels or gyms to use them. The restrictors are brightly colored, easy to see and easily left out of the installation (there are instructions on most packaging to help you remove them).
very good trainers and always smells clean. Kept in pristine service and friendly workers. the classes are to die for with your membership. Got a cheap one for being a student
Random closings of the pool for regular members to accommodate non-member program swim classes, with nearly no advance notice, is astonishing. Member swimmers show up for their carefully planned workout time and are turned away. The pool is open to members so long as there is a certified lifeguard on duty. Problem is, the club can't find or pay enough to attract part time back up guards as fill-ins for the inevitable times when the regular lifeguard can't come in.
Great club-- very clean and the staff are so friendly!
There are two main downside issues here that defy logic in an otherwise apparently well-managed club facility. The first is that regular members are closed out of their usual swim workout (with no notice!) in favor of non-member program swim lessons anytime there are pool staffing issues. If the corporate goal is to impress shareholders by aggressively cutting operating costs, it might be advisable to revisit that strategy. Cost cutting that compromises product integrity, brand equity and customer loyalty never works. This is marketing 101.
The pool just makes this a great place to workout. Locker rooms and gym are always super clean. Wish they had some barre classes and variety in classes, but the gym and machines are great.
Normally, in addition to the regular lifeguard, there might be a swim instructor in the pool giving those program lessons. Regulations require that, in addition to the swim instructor, a lifeguard must be on duty to cover the swimmers in the lap lanes (I and others) who are regular members and not involved in the swim classes. Without a lifeguard on duty, the swim instructor can contue with his lessons (paid on a program fee basis) but the pool will have to be closed to regular paid members because the Club doesn’t provide a back up lifeguard to comply with regulations.
The suggestion is, obviously to staff up so that all are served, but failing that, reschedule the swim lessons so that regular membership privileges are honored first and foremost.
However, over time, I have seen a steady decline in both subtle and not so subtle features of the Club and this is worrisome. There’s been an obvious cost-cutting campaign which has been widely reported in the business and financial press.
I have been a member of this club since 2012 and have seen a steady and on-going decline in some meaningful components of our club experience. I am a lap swimmer so I only use the pool, locker room and related facilities. Here are just 2.
Great Trainers. Clean club.
