Normally Outback is very good, and maybe 2 times in my life I have complained to management in a restaurant. However, on this visit:

Great service and great food... 8 people and a variety of palettes but everyone found something to eat. Get the bloomin onion!

We came in late afternoon on Friday before Christmas around 2:30. It was empty, probably about 6 tables full, at best. Service was sssslllllooooowwww! All we ordered were drinks, 2 salads and a 3 point bloomin onion. Salads took forever, they came out warm and skimpy and long after the salads were gone, finally the appetizer. Cold like the salad should have been. The sirloin cubes were like ice cubes, the cheese was cold and congieled and the dipping sauce had a scum on top, you know that film it gets when it sits and gets cool? We were starving at that point so road-kill would have been ok which was pretty much what we got. Finally after sitting for a while with a pile of empty dishes, the waitress brought the bill. It was $61.15 which was what we expected. I gave a brand new $50 visa gift card that I just opened from the packaging plus an additional $20 in cash to cover the overage and tip. The waitress comes back to the table and tells me there was only $41.67 on the card so she used the extra $20 towards the bill. So I gave her another $10 in cash for tip. I asked where was the visa gift card bcuz it wasn't returned to me. 5 minutes later, she returns the card to me. I contacted visa who advised me that when the visa gift card is used at a hotel or restaurant, they automatically withhold the tip and depending on how the establishment is set up with visa, the tip either goes thru of gets credited back to the card. So the waitress kept my card, got a $10 cash tip and had I not requested my visa gift card back, would have gotten an additional $8.33 by keeping my visa gift card.

Very good. Accommodating to food allergies. Good service

We ordered some apps and they came out. 2 minutes later dinner comes out and my prime rib was cold. Outback has gone way down in the quality of food and service.

3. We waited an additional 15 minutes afterward to order our meal.

I am not accustomed to this type of service and food from Outback. And to top it all off, it was my wife's birthday. We wont be visiting Outback again any time soon.

5. The lettuce on my burger had been microwaved, and was slimy.

2. The appetizer (blooming onion) was 1/2 the size of the plate and was burnt.

4. I waited an additional 10 minutes for mayonnaise after receiving my meal.

1. Server forgot our appetizer after delivering our drinks.

So today, Tuesday, I spoke to manager "Matt", was polite, but defensive because he "hired her" and "never had any incidents with her" but in my opinion, it only takes one incident. I'm sure there are little things the servers share on how to get over and make more tips. This is one of them. The "manager" "matt" who claims he was "taking notes" offered no concession (not that I would ever go back there) other than making poor excuses for the waitress's inexcusable behavior. This is the next played-out restaurant that will go out of business for these easily corrected behaviors. I guess looking for new jobs is easier than keeping customers. Good luck! I would never go back to this establishment.
